Birdneck Point

Location: Birdneck Point is one of Virginia Beach’s most sought-after neighborhoods.  Nestled along Laskin Road on its own small deep-water peninsula, surrounded by the waters of Little Neck Creek and Linkhorn Bay, Birdneck Point is one of the most distinctive communities in Virginia Beach.

The Birdneck Point Community:  Birdneck Point is said to have been named after the shape of the neighborhood, which juts out into Linkhorn Bay like the long neck of a bird.  It was originally settled as farmland in the 18th century.

In the 1920s, the famed Cavalier Hotel at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront bought a private golf course on Birdneck Point. The golf course was purchased for the exclusive use of Cavalier Hotel members and was renamed the “Cavalier Country Club.”  Over the years the remaining farmland on the little peninsula was slowly sold off and developed.  But unlike other neighborhoods with cookie-cutter floorplans and repetitive designs, the homes in Birdneck Point are mostly unique. Custom brick homes are the rule.  Deep water access criss-crosses the neighborhood, and ancient trees shelter the homes below.
